Clare and Don's Beach Shack Is
Committed to the Environment!!
We believe that “green” policies are not just good for our
environment and our City — they’re also cost effective, and that
benefits EVERYBODY! Here are some things Clare and Don's
Beach Shack are currently doing to do our part:
- Solar Energy. We believe creating electricity through solar energy is the
ultimate use of the sun's power. Thats why we installed solar panels on the
roof of The Beach Shack. Using the sun to power Clare and Don's lighting,
refrigeration and other electrical needs is very exciting for us.
- Our Recycling Program. As you may have noticed, Clare and Don's only sells
canned beer, aluminum cans are lighter than glass bottles, which is good for
reducing the environmental impact during the transportation stage. Our staff
recycles every can thats is enjoyed and emptied at The Beach Shack. All of
our kitchen waste, cans, jars, paper and all cardboard cartons are all
recycled. Our recycling far out weighs our solid waste. We like that!!
- Compostable or Biodegradable To-Go Containers. All of our "To-Go" cups
and containers are made from recycled materials, and are much more
environmentally friendly than our previous containers. By providing
biodegradable or compostable alternatives for our to-go containers, we are
again, limiting our carbon "footprint in the sand" !!!
- Local Distributors. All of our suppliers, and vendors are local, reducing
vehicle emissions, fossil fuel usage and everything else that comes with
trucking!!!
- Our Cooking Oil. Clare and Don's Beach Shack changes our cooking oil on
regular basis to keep our fries, fish and chips, hush puppies and anything
else that we fry, a light, fresh golden brown. With a clean, crisp coating. When
we clean our fryers, the used oil is then taken to a special facility and turned
into fuel. We believe that by using our old oil to create power for others, we
are helping out by creating a lower environmental impact and less waste for
our community.
